Staten Island, NY March 3, 2009 -- Adaptive Campus, Collegebound Network, and Mom it Forward show that Twitter can be more than just a platform for miniblogging. Today, Adaptive Campus, Collegebound Network, and Mom it Forward announce that they are teaming up to utilize this latest Internet craze called Twitter to help inform moms about the benefits of returning to school. Twitter is a rapidly growing Internet service (www.twitter.com) that is sweeping the globe and becoming an important information and social networking resource for tens of millions of people.
While Twitter has been the latest social networking website to receive a great deal of attention, many are still asking how it can be used in the most effective way to reach education audiences. "That is the right question for people to be asking," says Keith Bourne, CEO of Adaptive Campus. "Especially in today's economic climate, schools need to know if their resources are being put to the best use and social media still needs to prove itself to some degree. But I believe this event is a great example of how these Internet services can be put to practical uses for colleges and universities, and help them reach their audiences in ways not possible in the past on such a broad geographic basis."
Every Tuesday night at 9 p.m. EST, approximately 300-500 mom's from around the U.S. join together in what is called a "Tweetgrid Twitter Party" through "Girl's Night Out" sessions organized by Mom it Forward. Using the #GNO hashtag while conversing, the users can easily monitor conversation threads across the Twitter network. Using this ubiquitous real-time short messaging service, a topic is set and those in attendance "Tweet" together and ask questions of an expert Twitter panel.
As part of Mom it Forward's focus on lifelong learning, the topic on March 3 is "Moms Back at School." Sponsored by the CollegeBound Network (CBN), this unique event will provide back-to-school experts, including Keith Bourne, CEO of Adaptive Campus, to field and answer education questions as they stream in. Participants will have the opportunity to chat with a successful mom-student, learn more about the flexibility of career education, and discover ways they can jump-start their own back-to-school pursuits while managing a busy personal and professional life.
Gina LaGuardia, editorial director of The CollegeBound Network, Keith Bourne of AdaptiveCampus.com, and a student and representative from Capella University have signed on to help facilitate the conversation. Editors from CollegeSurfing.com, SpaBeautySchools.com, HolisticJunction.com, and CollegeBound.net will be on hand to share insight as well.
